Why David started Fit after 50
David Schutz's father earned two PhDs, in English Literature and Philosophy, and had a formidable intellect. Around age 85, he began experiencing short-term memory loss that later progressed to dementia. Watching that happen left David with a lasting question: how can we give ourselves the best possible chance not merely to live longer, but to remain healthy, capable, independent, mentally present, and able to enjoy life? Fit after 50 grew from that question.
What we want for you
Fitness is one means, not the ultimate product. Fit after 50 is being built to absorb complexity, explain what the evidence supports, identify the actions that matter most, and help people take realistic steps without making health optimization their full-time hobby.
Careful, useful guidance
Fit after 50 provides education, not diagnosis or treatment. We will distinguish established evidence from uncertainty, avoid promises that healthy behaviors can prevent dementia or other disease, and encourage qualified medical guidance when a person's circumstances require it.
