What Fit after 50 is, and is not
Fit after 50 offers general education and practical next steps for adults 50 and over who want to stay healthy, capable, and independent. It is not medical care. Nothing here diagnoses, treats, or replaces advice from your own clinician. See the medical and fitness disclaimer.
How we evaluate evidence
We prefer primary sources and guidance from government and professional bodies over commentary. When Fit after 50 relies on a health claim, a source check compares the narrow wording of the claim with named sources and records the claim, the sources, a strength rating, the limits, and the date. That record is what you see in the evidence panel on a page. The checks are prepared with AI assistance, and a person at Fit after 50 is responsible for adopting them.
This is an editorial source check. It is not a clinical peer review, and it is not a systematic review of the literature. Today, 45 narrow claims have been checked this way. Some of those ratings are marked as proposed on the page until a person confirms them.
What our evidence ratings mean
A rating applies to one narrow claim, never to a whole topic or page. Ratings come from our review records, not from an AI model's confidence.
- Strong
- Consistent support from authoritative guidelines for the narrow claim made here.
- Moderate
- Supportive guidance exists, with more limits or less consistency than a strong rating.
- Emerging
- Early or low-certainty evidence. We say so instead of implying more certainty.
- Conflicting
- Credible sources disagree. We describe the disagreement.
- Insufficient
- Not enough evidence to recommend on this basis, so we do not.
How we choose sources
We start with national and international guidelines and professional organizations. We prefer sources that state how they reached their conclusions and that are dated. We link the source itself so you can read it. Marketing pages, testimonials, and product claims are not evidence. Our evidence and citation policy and editorial policy describe the standards we aim to meet.
How content is reviewed, and who is responsible
A person at Fit after 50 is responsible for every published health claim. No physician or other licensed clinician currently reviews Fit after 50 content. If that changes, the reviewer's real name and credential will appear on the pages they reviewed, and only on those pages. We will not display a reviewer, credential, or approval that does not exist.
Updates and content history
Pages with an evidence panel show when they were last updated and list what changed. We change a date only when the content changes. Where we have not yet reviewed a page's evidence, the panel says so.
Most of the site does not yet have a trust record. Treat pages without one as not evidence-reviewed.
Corrections
If you think something is wrong, tell us through the contact page. We review the concern against the source, correct the page, and update its history. Our corrections policy describes the process.
How AI is used
- AI tools may help us draft, organize research, write code, and create images. Some images on Fit after 50 are AI-generated.
- The action suggested by “What should I do today?” is chosen by a fixed set of rules that Fit after 50 wrote, using the goals and preferences you save. It is not chosen by a language model, and each suggestion comes with a short reason.
- AI can help prepare source checks and suggested ratings. It does not decide what is published. A person at Fit after 50 is responsible for that decision. Ratings are stored in a review record and are never generated when you visit a page.
Commercial relationships
Fit after 50 sells its own products and may earn commissions from some links. Evidence ratings are assigned to claims, not to products, and a commission does not change a rating. A page that promotes a product says so. See the affiliate disclosure and the advertising disclosure.
Personalization and your data
Personalized suggestions use the goals and preferences you save, and saving them is your choice. Your goals are interests, not diagnoses. See the privacy policy for how your information is handled.
What we have not done yet
- We have not had our content, or the source checks behind our ratings, reviewed by a clinician.
- Most pages have not been through the evidence review described above.
- We do not yet have a public record of member outcomes, and we do not claim health results from using Fit after 50.
